Does the out-of-hours GP service record telephone calls and is this allowed?

Yes. All phone calls are automatically recorded. The calls are recorded from the moment the out-of-hours GP service picks up the phone until the moment the connection with the assistant or GP is lost.

All incoming telephone calls to the out-of-hours GP service are recorded and stored for quality purposes and in accordance with the statutory objection period. The recorded conversations are treated with the utmost confidentiality and are subject to medical confidentiality. If you have a complaint about the handling of your request for GP care, you can listen to the conversation. To do this, an application must be submitted and a procedure must be completed.

The recorded conversations are used to promote the expertise of the assistants. Only the medical content and handling are taken into account and not the identity of the patient. The recorded conversations are treated with the utmost confidentiality and are subject to medical confidentiality.
